Mercer has appointed Grant Hughes has joined as Head of Mercer Jelf Financial Planning. Hughes’ appointment follows the recent brand launch which combines the Mercer and Jelf financial planning teams to deliver a joint proposition.
Hughes will focus on continuing the integration of Mercer and Jelf, including aligning the proposition to Mercer Harmonise, a digital platform, launched by Mercer in 2015, which draws together all of an employee’s pensions, insurance and health data – allowing easy planning and management of personal financial and health goals.

After joining the Royal Bank of Scotland Group IFS in 2000 as an Independent Financial Planning Manager, Hughes went on to become a Regional Manager as part of the Private Banking Division. From 2012 to 2016 Hughes worked as a Director for Barclays Corporate & Employer Solutions, previously holding the roles Head of Corporate Wealth Advisory and Head of Business & Benefits Advisory, leading teams of both regulated and non-regulated advisers.
“I am delighted Grant has decided to join us at Mercer at this exciting point in the development of our new proposition with Jelf,” says Richard Wilson, Partner and Commercial Leader of Mercer’s Consumer business in the UK. “Financial Planning will be a key element of that proposition and Grant has a very clear vision on how he can develop and grow the business as part of our overall Consumer division.”
“I am pleased to be leading such a strong team and a chartered financial planning business,” adds Hughes. “I look forward to building Mercer Jelf Financial Planning and developing a range of services, to respond to the demand employers’ face to provide financial advice to employees.”
