Turner Investments has appointed three professionals to its management team – Robert Baird as chief operating and accounting officer, Jena Weaver Dietrich as director of marketing, and Erik Hagar as senior portfolio specialist.

Turner Investments’ founder Robert Turner says: “In addition to adding a new, proprietary investment engine to fuel our disciplined, rules-based investment approach, we are excited to strengthen our bench with the additions of Rob, Jena, and Erik. Their respective experience and expertise will help support our ultimate goal of adding value for our clients by delivering more predictable outcomes.”

Baird (pictured) brings 20 years of financial experience with both private and registered funds to the position. Most recently, Baird was with Veracen for two years. Prior to Veracen, he was with Kingsguard Advisors, a global macro hedge fund run by two former Goldman Sachs managers, and Ellington Management Group, a quantitative manager based in Greenwich, CT, where he was controller for five years.

Dietrich rejoins Turner having served eight years previously in the same capacity for the firm and its affiliates. She has 21 years of investment marketing experience across a spectrum of business channels. Most recently, Dietrich was a managing director for Custom Institutional Fund Solutions, a consultancy to the investment management industry that specialises in helping firms launch mutual funds. Prior to her initial tenure at Turner, she was director of marketing for Philadelphia International Advisors and vice president of marketing for The Glenmede Trust Company.

Hagar brings 30 years of investment industry experience to the new role. Most recently he spent nine years at Vanguard as a senior investment analyst within its portfolio review group and as head of consultant relations within the institutional sales division. Prior to Vanguard, Hagar served as an active equity portfolio manager for The Glenmede Trust Company. He began his career as an equity and option specialist with membership privileges on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX).

“Industry headwinds for active investment managers have been strong and we’ve seen tremendous changes in technology, investment vehicles, distribution channels, and fees over the past ten years,” says Hagar. “Turner is creating a well-positioned opportunity for success in this environment and I’m delighted to be at the forefront.”
