Snowden Lane Partners adds veteran adviser in New Haven

Wealth advisory firm Snowden Lane Partners has appointed 25-year industry veteran Sam DeGennaro, formerly first vice president of Merrill Lynch, as a partner and managing director in the firm’s New Haven, CT office.

DeGennaro is merging his USD180 million practice with the now USD1 billion Guth/Fordyce Group and will work alongside the team of nine professionals, led by partners and managing directors Kevin Guth and Steve Fordyce.
The Guth/Fordyce Group recently relocated to a new, larger office in New Haven to accommodate the team’s growth.
Snowden Lane is rapidly building a national brand. Its footprint now includes seven offices nationally, including both coasts, with offices in Pasadena and San Diego (an international office), as well as New York, New Haven, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Bethesda, MD.
In June, the Financial Times named Snowden Lane to its elite 300 Top Registered Investment Advisers list (the FT 300) for the second straight year, recognising it as one of the top independent RIA firms in the US.
DeGennaro says: “Snowden Lane has quickly established itself in the wealth advisory marketplace as a trusted and reliable firm, combining the flexibility and independent thinking of a boutique with the infrastructure, leadership and capabilities of a much larger institution. That is a reality I quickly bought into and I’m privileged to join this team.”
Guth adds: “Sam has more than two decades of experience that will embolden our group and make us that much more formidable in the marketplace. It’s exciting to think about the value he will add to this team.”
Snowden Lane chairman Lyle LaMothe says: “Sam represents everything that has made Snowden Lane successful, most importantly our core values. We have and always will be committed to cultivating a transparent and client-first business and we’re delighted to have Sam be an integral part of it.”
DeGennaro was formerly a practicing accountant and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and prior to joining Snowden Lane spent 13 years at Smith Barney and a decade at Merrill Lynch.
“Turning Snowden Lane into a success story in the last five years has meant we’ve had to operate differently than our industry has in the past,” says Rob Mooney, Snowden Lane’s managing partner and CEO. “This combination is a testament to the environment we’ve created. We’re confident it will continue to attract the best talent, and enable us to offer superior investment solutions and services to our clients.”
The Guth/Fordyce Group focuses on goals-based investing and helping clients achieve their dreams, whether a gratifying retirement, education for their children, a lasting family legacy or meaningful philanthropic endowment.
