Kames Capital receives top marks in latest UNPRI survey

Kames Capital has been awarded the highest possible rating from the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI) for the second year running.

The UNPRI, which Kames has been a signatory of since 2008, conducts its poll of signatories annually. In its most recent survey, published in June 2016, Kames was rated A+ for its overarching approach to responsible investment, compared to the average rating of B. In total, just 15 per cent of signatories achieved an A+ rating.
Kames also received the maximum score for each of the 10 assessment categories. These categories covered Kames’ overarching approach to responsible investment, including the quality and disclosure of its policies, the setting of objectives and strategies, its governance and resources, the company’s collaborative activities, and its commitment to promoting responsible investment amongst clients and peers.
Ryan Smith, Kames Capital’s head of ethical research and corporate governance, says: “We are delighted to have received such a positive feedback report for the second consecutive year. This underlines our longstanding commitment to being a global leader in sustainable and responsible investment.
“We were particularly encouraged by the detail of the report, which saw us continue to score highly in listed equities and corporate bonds. We have also made significant progress in our feedback scores for property, an area where we are making a major investment to achieve best-practice in ESG.”
