Allfunds Investment Research appoints Nick Emmins to work with UK wealth managers

Allfunds Bank has appointed Nick Emmins to spearhead its new investment research services to UK wealth managers and other third party fund buyers.

The new role has been developed as part of Allfunds Investment Research’s move to support UK fund buyers’ requirement to comply with incremental regulatory requirements and the need for robust processes around the selection of funds for their clients.

Allfunds Investment Research selects from a pool of over 46,000 funds from around the world, rather than just local funds. It is backed by an enhanced fund selection process and a 17-strong team who additionally cover governance, risk, and portfolio analysis, at both fund and fund house level.

Allfunds has recognised the development of the UK market following the UK’s Retail Distribution Review (RDR) and MiFID II as one where advisers need greater certainty in their fund selector recommendations, including the choice of the best funds to suit customer needs.

Allfunds’ head of UK and Ireland Simon Shapland says: “Initially we plan to talk further to our existing clients and prospects. We believe Allfunds is in a strong position to offer outsourced funds based investment solutions to the UK fund buyer market, and Nick will be spearheading this initiative.”

Allfunds’ global head of investment research Enrique Pardo says that with nearly 500 fund managers offering over 46.000 funds via the Allfunds global platform, the ability to spot talented managers is crucially important if UK wealth managers are to fulfil the criteria set by local and, increasingly, European regulators.

Pardo adds: “Given the unprecedented access that Allfunds Research has to fund managers across Europe and the rest of the world, and the role it plays as an institutional rather than retail business, we are in a good position to provide significant qualitative fund manager research, together with portfolio risk analysis and structural and operational due diligence services to help UK wealth managers and other third party fund buyers to fulfil all requirements in order to offer best advisory services to their clients. I’m therefore delighted that Nicholas is joining us, to help enable this to happen.”

Emmins was previously a director at RBC where he helped develop its Luxembourg based global fund trading platform. In that role he developed and implemented new product capabilities while establishing and leading a fund manager support team, which worked with over 300 asset managers.

He has held previous roles as head of business development at BNP Paribas Securities Services; head of institutional sales at BNP Paribas Asset Management; and head of investment sales at M&G Investments. Previously he was at Aetna Investment Management. He started his career as a sales manager at Equity & Law Life Assurance.
