BMO Global Asset Management has continued in its expansion in the ETF sector in Europe with the appointment of Christine Cantrell from State Street as sales director for UK ETF sales.
Cantrell will report to Rob Thorpe, head of UK wholesale and retail sales, working with asset and wealth managers to promote the firm’s ETF range. Former iShares managing director Marc Knowles (pictured) joined BMO GAM in May 2015 as director of ETFs and the firm launched nine ETFs in Europe.
Interviewed for GFM’s ETFs for Wealth and Asset Managers Special Report in July, Knowles said: “The Canadian ETF business has been up and running for seven years, gathering USD23billion of assets across 66 ETFs. Launching and developing the ETF business in Europe is part of the firm’s strategy to build a global ETF business.”
