AJ Bell appoints head of fund selection

AJ Bell Investments has appointed Ryan Hughes as head of fund selection.

In the newly-created role, Hughes will join the team responsible for running AJ Bell’s recently launched managed portfolio service for financial advisers.
In addition, he will focus on expanding the investment solutions offered by AJ Bell Investments, the new investment management business that was created earlier this year.
Most recently Hughes was fund manager at Apollo where he ran a range of multi-asset portfolios. Prior to that he was senior fund manager at Old Mutual Global Investors, working across its multi-asset fund range.
AJ Bell Investments was formed earlier this year following the acquisitions of Indexx Markets and Mansard Capital.
Alex Dymock, managing director at AJ Bell Investments, says: “Our focus is to build high quality investment solutions for financial advisers and their clients that are simple, low cost and ultimately help them to invest. Adding someone of Ryan’s experience to the team will help us do that and expand the range of investment solutions we are able to offer.”
Hughes says: “It is an exciting time to join AJ Bell as it expands its offering to advisers to include simple and effective investment solutions as part of its platform proposition. I’m looking forward to joining the team and helping expand the business.”
