Chiron Investment Management boosts sales and distribution

Chiron Investment Management has expanded its sales and distribution capabilities with additional platform access and six new hires.

After being added to several platforms this year, including availability at some of the wire-houses, regionals and independents, Chiron needed to grow its distribution team.

It has hired industry veterans Darren Cde Baca and David Portal, two experienced adviser consultants. Both join from Ivy Investments, where the firm’s chief investment officer, Ryan Caldwell, previously served as a portfolio manager.

“We are pleased to welcome seasoned professionals such as Darren and David, who not only round out our distribution capabilities, solidifying a national footprint, but who also have deep knowledge of the world allocation category from their history of working with Ryan,” says Kirsten Pickens, head of distribution. “I have had the privilege of working with Darren and David previously, and am confident that their proven ability and solid and diverse relationships will prove valuable as we continue to educate and expand our investor base.”

Cde Baca joined Chiron as a managing director on the distribution team covering the Northwest territory. He has been working in the financial services industry for over 30 years. Prior to joining Chiron, he spent almost 10 years with Ivy Investments as a regional vice president, covering San Francisco. Cde Baca also spent many years with Dreyfus, where he was both wholesaling and managing the retail and institutional distribution for the Western half of the US.

Portal joined Chiron as a managing director on the distribution team covering the Southeast territory. Portal is a 27-year veteran in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Chiron, he was a regional vice president with Ivy Investments for 13 years covering Florida and Puerto Rico. He previously held several sales and management roles with Mackenzie Financial before it was acquired by Waddell and Reed.

Chiron has also added another senior hire to their distribution team, Allen Williamson, who will be a managing director and senior relationship manager. He joins Chiron from UBS Private Wealth Management. The industry veteran has also served in various senior roles at Guggenheim Investments, Nuveen Investments and Merrill Lynch.

“With 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, Williamson’s deep roster of high net worth, ultra-high net worth and industry relationships will significantly support Chiron’s major initiatives, one of which is to further expand Chiron’s connectivity with our key distribution partners,” says Chiron chief executive officer Enrico Gaglioti (pictured).

In addition, Chiron is building out its internal client consulting desk, by bringing on Susan Butts, Michael Williams and Jordan Juenemann, all of whom have joined as regional sales specialists, covering the East, West and Central territories respectively on the distribution team.

Prior to joining Chiron, Butts was a junior analyst with Caxton Associates, and both Williams and Juenemann were internal sales specialists with Ivy Investments.

“The firm has seen a tremendous amount of growth over the last 10 months, which has made it crucial for us to continue to add top talent,” says Gaglioti. “It is an exciting time for Chiron and we remain committed to delivering best-in-class service to our clients in terms of insight, research, support and the ability to achieve stable risk-adjusted returns.”
