Intrinsic appoints chief risk officer

Intrinsic, part of Old Mutual Wealth, has appointed Gill Davidson as chief risk officer.

Davidson takes over from Wallace Dobbin and will join Intrinsic in late December.

A founding board member, Dobbin is retiring from full time employment, whilst continuing with his existing non-executive director commitments. He will remain with the business while Davidson transitions into the role.

Joining the Intrinsic board, Davidson will report to both Intrinsic chief executive Andy Thompson and Old Mutual Wealth chief risk officer Iain Wright.

Davidson joins Intrinsic with a strong track record in compliance and legal functions in the financial services sector. Since 2013 she has held the role of group regulatory director with Tenet, one of the industry’s largest financial adviser networks.

Prior to that she held senior roles with Coventry Building Society and Skipton Building Society.

At Intrinsic, Davidson will oversee the network’s risk and compliance strategy, ensuring the business and its advisers identify and manage risk effectively.

Thompson says: “Wallace has been a vital part of Intrinsic’s success and on behalf of all my colleagues I’d like to thank him for the valuable contribution he has made to our business journey.

“It was really important for the network to find a candidate with the right experience and expertise to ensure Intrinsic and its advisers can continue to grow and succeed within a controlled environment. Gill brings a wealth of experience to the intrinsic board and she will be invaluable in ensuring we have a robust risk and control framework in place to provide a secure foundation for our ongoing growth plans.”

Davidson says: “The financial advice industry continues to undergo significant transformation and there is a big opportunity for Intrinsic to build on its remarkable growth to date. I’m delighted to be joining an ambitious company that recognises the importance of delivering positive customer outcomes. ”
