MFS launches MFS Meridian Funds – Prudent Capital Fund

MFS Investment Management has launched MFS Meridian Funds – Prudent Capital Fund, a global equity strategy with the flexibility to strategically allocate to selective credits in the bond market.

In addition, the fund has the option to allocate a portion of its assets to cash to mitigate downside risks by reducing the overall market exposure.
The strategy aims to deliver above-average returns with below-average volatility relative to the MSCI World Index over a full market cycle. This is achieved by investing in a concentrated portfolio of equity and credit securities of businesses across the globe, regardless of issuer's location
The MFS Meridian Funds – Prudent Capital Fund follows a disciplined strategy of investing in both equity and debt instruments of quality businesses, buying only when the management team believes they are attractively valued and can yield positive returns over the long term. The fund is not constrained by benchmark, region or market capitalisation.
“It's been almost eight years since we've had a significant downturn in the markets. This market cycle, like all cycles before it, will eventually end, and investors will rediscover the importance of capital preservation. We'll likely see a lower-return environment in the years ahead, which will put added importance on the ability to generate outperformance and manage downside risks,” says Lina Medeiros (pictured), president of MFS International Ltd.
Barnaby Wiener, portfolio manager of MFS Meridian Funds – Prudent Wealth Fund, and David Cole, fixed income portfolio manager, serve as the fund’s co-managers. Both are responsible for all buy and sell decisions as well as portfolio construction.
