Singapore-based Gordian Capital launches Luxembourg UCITS fund

Gordian Capital Singapore has launched the Quadratus Fund which will offers investors access to a balanced portfolio, diversified globally across three asset classes – equities, fixed income, currencies.

Trading under the tickers QUADREI and QUADRUI, the fund focuses on asset class allocation rather than (single) security selection, focusing on return drivers intended to isolate true sources of risk and return.
A strict risk management perspective aims to deliver all-weather behaviour for the portfolio, by using full asset class bandwidth and shorting capabilities.
The fund’s objective is to preserve capital and outperform a 50/50 balanced benchmark over a period of three years.
The portfolio will typically hold 20 to 40 exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and certificates (ETCs), offering cost-efficient exposure to multiple asset classes globally, together with index futures and listed options, providing hedging overlay opportunities.
The fund is managed by Adrien Blavier, a 20-year veteran in derivatives and alternative asset management. Most recently, he worked for Galena Asset Management (Trafigura Group), a commodities-centric alternative asset manager and, prior to that, ran cross-asset derivatives desks for Bear Stearns, Barclays Capital and Banco Santander.
Blavier says: “The performance and risk metrics achieved while running the Quadratus strategy as a privately-held managed account led us to believe that we should make it accessible to accredited and institutional investors. We chose the UCITS structure for its liquidity, transparency and marketability. Most importantly, with my significant investment in the fund and a deliberately competitive fee structure, I’m demonstrably aligning my interests with those of investors in the fund.”
“The fund incorporates an unconstrained asset allocation strategy and has been created to provide accredited and institutional investors with a flexible investment mandate that can adapt to changing risk environments. As a sub-fund of Hector SICAV, managed by Degroof Petercam Asset Services SA, this is our first offering of a Luxembourg UCITS fund and we’re very pleased to be broadening our capabilities with this product. Adrien brings over 20 years of cross-asset experience in capital markets and a strong background in derivatives that ideally suits the fund’s investment mandate,” says Mark Voumard (pictured), CEO of Gordian Capital.
