Principal Global Investors has appointed Stuart Lawrence as senior equities trader in the firm’s global trading team.

Lawrence (pictured) will be responsible for co-managing Principal Global Investors’ European equity trades and will be based in Principal’s London office.

He will report to Gayle Wageman, who manages the global trading desk.

Lawrence will co-manage European dealing alongside Rogier Van de Grift, senior equity trader.

Prior to joining Principal, Lawrence worked as an equity sales trader at Instinet for over six years. In the past, he also worked as senior dealer for Ennismore Fund Management and was also a European market maker at ABN AMRO, where he began his career on the graduate programme.

Melinda Hanrahan, managing director of global equities at Principal Global Investors, says: “Strengthening our trading capabilities allows us to enhance the research investment solutions that we offer to our clients, while providing them with seamless, high quality, execution services. Stuart’s skills and experience make him an excellent addition to the team.”

Tim Stumpff, European CEO at Principal Global Investors, says: “London continues to be a strategic hub for global equities trading and adding Stuart to our dealing team will reinforce our global trading capabilities as investors continue to show an appetite for the asset class. Our global set up allows investors critical perspective at a time when markets continue to be volatile.”
