Voya Investment Management has hired Bob Alderman as head of business development for the Pomona Investment Fund (PIF) on behalf of Pomona Capital, a Voya affiliate.
Alderman is based in New York and reports to Troy Chakarun, senior vice president, head of private wealth and advisory.
"As one of the early pioneers to bring alternative investments to the wealth management segment, Bob adds tremendous experience and credibility to our overall efforts," says Michael Granoff, founder and chief executive officer of Pomona Capital. "Initially, he will focus on the independent advisory channel along with developing business opportunities with regional and national broker-dealers and advisory firms."
PIF is a 1940 Act registered investment vehicle designed to give accredited investors easier access to private equity investing. PIF offers investors the opportunity to invest in private equity with a focus on secondaries.
Prior to joining Pomona, Alderman held senior management positions in alternatives at Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse Asset Management and most recently at Gold Bullion International where he was responsible for business development and global distribution of the firm's precious metals offering to financial advisors and clients. As a member of the firm's executive management team, he oversaw a group of specialists responsible for educating and training financial advisors on the use of precious metals as a portfolio component in maintaining and building long-term wealth.
PIF continues to build out its private equity portfolio, with 38 underlying partnerships currently held within the fund, encompassing over 500 underlying portfolio companies. During the fourth quarter, the fund closed on four new transactions, acquiring limited partnership positions in funds managed by Silver Lake Partners, Providence Equity Partners, Cerberus Institutional Partners and Bain Capital.
