Athena appoints MD to head up NYC office

Athena Capital Advisors, a privately owned, independent registered investment adviser serving private clients, foundations and endowments, has appointed Douglas Cohen as a managing director leading the firm’s New York City office.

Cohen will focus on the delivery of customised investment advisory services, including asset allocation, portfolio construction and other portfolio-management related services.
“We are pleased to have Doug join our expanding team. Over the course of his career, he’s amassed an excellent track record built upon dedication, integrity and care that are directly aligned to Athena’s core values,” says Dr Lisette Cooper, founder and managing partner of Athena. “Doug’s deep investment expertise and experience will be of great value to all of our clients.”
Cohen joins Athena from Eachwin Capital where, as a founding partner and portfolio manager, he developed the firm’s investment approach and oversaw all aspects of portfolio construction and risk management. Cohen previously spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley, where for the last 12 years, he served as managing director and director of the firm’s strategic equity portfolio programme.
“I’m honoured to join Athena’s talented team,” says Cohen “Over the past 20 years, Athena has established a reputation for providing transparent and unbiased investment advisory and OCIO services. I’m looking forward to helping Athena continue to grow its New York presence and carrying on the firm’s long tradition of providing a differentiated and personalised client experience.”
Cohen is a board member of JOIN Israel, a not-for-profit organisation that works to rescue at-risk youth and impoverished elderly through strategic partnerships with other non-profits.
