New private equity player Essing Capital open for business

Essling Capital, a new independent private equity firm founded by Frank Noël-Vandenberghe and Michele Mezzarobba and born out of the private equity team of asset management and investment firm Massena Partners, is now open for business.

Headed up by Mezzarobba (pictured), the new company is wholly owned by its associates.
Approved and supervised by the French financial markets regulator (AMF), Essling Capital blends expertise and flexibility to drive innovation in the non-listed sector.
Noël-Vandenberghe says: "After being developed within Massena Partners, this new entity is an important stage in our ambitious expansion process. Our independence will allow us to design and structure novel private equity investment solutions for all our investors."
Mezzarobba adds: "The company's name is a reference to our background. Marshall Massena was granted the title of Prince of Essling by Napoleon on the battlefield. The title is given to the natural heir of Marshall Massena.
"Our entrepreneurial approach and opportunistic spirit run through our genes. Essling Capital is bound by performance and systematically invests alongside its investors in complete transparency."
Essling Capital currently has more than EUR1 billion in assets under management in Europe and abroad, and aims to double its investment capacity within three years. The firm offers international investors opportunities across all asset classes including minority co-investments, funds of funds (primary and secondary), real estate and non-listed debt. Other investment strategies are currently being finalised.
Mezzarobba has gained over 20 years' experience after starting out at Oddo & Cie before moving to the M&A department at Paribas and then the M&A team at Rothschild & Co. Since 2004 he has been CFO, executive board member and head of proprietary investments at Paris Orléans (Rothschild & Co). Mezzarobba joined Massena Partners in 2015 as a partner and headed up the group's non-listed investments. He
Noël-Vandenberghe founded Massena Partners in 1989. He has participated in over 60 non-listed deals at Massena Partners in private equity, real estate and debt.
