Kayne Anderson Rudnick hires portfolio manager and senior research analyst

RELATED TOPICS

Hyung Kim, an experienced international equity portfolio manager and research analyst, has joined Kayne Anderson Rudnick (KAR) as portfolio manager and senior research analyst.

Kim (pictured) is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office and he will report to Douglas Foreman, chief investment officer.

In this role, Kim will join Craig Thrasher in managing the KAR Emerging Market Small Cap strategy. Kim will also provide research coverage for the KAR International Small Cap strategy, managed by Thrasher and Craig Stone. Both strategies employ a rigorous bottom-up approach that emphasises deep fundamental research to identify the highest quality small cap companies in the international markets.

“Investors are increasingly looking to shift their exposure back into international markets after several years of relative underperformance versus US equities,” says Foreman. “Hyung’s track record and extensive experience with international and emerging market equities make him a strong addition to our portfolio management team here at KAR.”

Kim joins KAR from Advisory Research in Chicago, where he served as an international equity analyst since 2010, covering the emerging and the non-US developed markets. In July 2016, he was added as a portfolio manager to Advisory Research’s Global Value strategy. Previously, Kim served as a research analyst at Coghill Capital Management, and earlier in his career, he worked as an analyst with CLSA, HSBC and Woori Bank in Seoul, Korea.

“KAR has a solid reputation built on 30 years of experience and success in the domestic small cap markets,” says Kim. “The firm has carved a niche for itself in the industry, backed by tremendous leadership and portfolio management teams, and I am very excited about the opportunity to build on this strong foundation."
