ETF data provider ETFGI reports that assets invested in ETFs/ETPs listed in Europe reached a new record high of USD658 billion at the end April 2017 surpassing the prior record of USD640 billion set at the end of Q1 2017.
At the end of April 2017, the European ETF/ETP industry had 2,257 ETFs/ETPs, with 7,128 listings, assets of USD658 billion, from 60 providers listed on 27 exchanges in 21 countries.
ETFs and ETPs listed in Europe gathered net inflows of USD5.20 billion in April marking the 32nd month of positive net new asset flows. Year to date, net inflows stand at USD40,562 million, while at this point last year there were net inflows of USD14,989 million.
Equity ETFs/ETPs saw net inflows of USD2.97 billion in April, bringing year to date net inflows to USD24.20 billion, which is greater than the net outflows of USD4.79 billion over the same period last year.
Fixed income ETFs and ETPs experienced net inflows of USD1.04 billion in April, growing year to date net inflows to USD8.86 billion, which is less than the same period last year which saw net inflows of USD13.38 billion.
Commodity ETFs/ETPs accumulated net inflows of USD450 million in April. Year to date, net inflows are at USD5.17 billion, compared to net inflows of USD5.33 billion over the same period last year.
Amundi ETF gathered the largest net ETF/ETP inflows in April with USD1.82 billion, followed by UBS ETFs with USD1.24 billion and Lyxor AM with USD910 million net inflows.
YTD, iShares gathered the largest net ETF/ETP inflows YTD with USD10.04 billion, followed by Lyxor AM with USD5.51 billion and Amundi ETF with USD5.44 billion net inflows.
