The Canadian ETF Association (CETFA) has appointed Kevin Gopaul, Head of BMO Global Asset Management Canada, as Chair of its Board of Directors.

Serving a two-year term, Gopaul is the third Board Chair since CETFA’s inception, following Vanguard’s Atul Tiwari and Horizons’ Howard Atkinson.

“BMO was a founding member of CETFA and has played a pivotal role in shaping and expanding the association,” says Pat Dunwoody, Executive Director of CETFA. “Kevin has been a proponent of ETFs for two decades, bringing innovation and many firsts to the industry, so he’s an excellent candidate to lead our Board. We look forward to seeing how his passion and leadership further CETFA’s mission and vision.”

“I’m honoured to be selected as CETFA Board Chair during a time when the industry is growing rapidly,” says Gopaul. “Looking ahead, it will be increasingly important for CETFA to continue to be an industry hub for thought leadership around ETFs. We need to keep raising awareness about the benefits and uses of ETFs and how they can complement and enhance portfolio construction.”

CETFA is also pleased to announce three new members, Franklin Templeton Investments, Manulife ETFs and Invesco Canada. The association now includes 46 members consisting of ETF providers, affiliates and portfolio managers, and represents more than 95 per cent of the Canadian ETF AUM.
CETFA, formed in late 2011 and the first of its kind, is an independent national association that represents and promotes the Canadian exchange traded fund (ETF) industry. Its focus is to help educate institutional and retail investors, as well as the advisor community, on the benefits and uses of ETFs, provide industry statistics and commentary on ETF-related issues and advance industry issues with regulators, government agencies and interested third parties.
