Annexus, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based designer of fixed indexed annuities, life insurance and other index-based wealth management products, has appointed Tom Haines as Senior Vice President of Capital Markets and Index Solutions.

Haines, who most recently led the Equities Solutions Structuring initiative for UBS Investment Bank and helped Annexus launch the award-winning NYSE Zebra Edge Index, will be responsible for driving the next phase of the company’s index strategy.

“This is an exciting milestone in further establishing Annexus as the leading independent product development company in the retirement planning industry,” says Ron Shurts, Co-Founder of Annexus. “Tom brings a wealth of experience and a successful track record of developing, evaluating and launching index strategies, and will help us continue to bring to market a comprehensive range of innovative new financial solutions.”

“Our goal has always been to design products that create better client outcomes. Tom shares our vision to ensure that the index solutions we offer are based on forward-looking considerations and sound investment theory—not just back-tested historical performance,” says Annexus Co-Founder Don Dady. “Tom’s extensive experience with the regulatory, trading and pricing perspectives of index design will also be extremely valuable to our insurance carrier partners that back the guarantees of our solutions.”

Haines will coordinate index review and design and manage relationships with index sponsors, investment banks, investment management firms and leading academic experts
