280 CapMarkets opens Seattle and Los Angeles offices

280 CapMarkets has opened new sales and trading offices in Seattle and Los Angeles.

Veteran Pacific Northwest bond traders Jim Wilford and Trish Mitchell anchor the Seattle office in the historic Smith Tower. Wilford and Mitchell are well-known fixed income experts having previously established 20 year careers at Piper Jaffray.
Operating as 280 Securities, 280 CapMarkets’s licensed broker-dealer, Wilford and Mitchell are making markets in taxable and tax-exempt bonds issued by Pacific Northwest, Mountain West, and Mid-West state and local government credits. 280 Securities was created to deliver bond price transparency to wealth advisors, and the Seattle office is now open to serve the growing network of independent wealth advisors operating in the Pacific Northwest.
The Seattle office works closely with the 280 Liaison Desk to serve advisors, as well as the 280 Institutional Sales Desks which is based in San Francisco near Silicon Valley.
“It’s terrific to be making markets after assisting the 280 team build a new approach to working with wealth advisors. The motivation for both Trish and I to get back into the bond business is 280’s unique approach to levelling the playing field for advisors serving their investor clients with fixed income products,” said Jim Wilford.
Separately, former Citigroup institutional fixed income sales executive, Duncan Rowland, has opened the 280 Securities office in the Los Angeles area. Rowland is also a well-known fixed income expert having built a career over 20 years at Citigroup.
Rowland says: “The experienced team that is building 280 Securities into a unique company serving the independent advisor with robust bond price transparency was exactly the opportunity I was searching for. I am excited to be part of the team and pleased to plant 280’s Southern California flag.”
“We are thrilled to be adding the capacity to serve advisors directly through fixed income experts who care about service and strive to provide the best possible investment solutions to advisors for their clients,” says Gurinder S Ahluwalia, CEO of 280 CapMarkets.
The Seattle office is located at Smith Tower, 506 2nd Ave., Seattle, WA 98104 and the Los Angeles area office is located at 1334 Parkview Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
