PIMCO hires two forex portfolio managers

PIMCO has hired Adam Iqbal as Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager and Michael Davidson as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager as the firm strengthens its global capabilities in currency markets.

Davidson joined the firm in September and Dr Iqbal will join in November. Both portfolio managers will be based in London.
In his new role, Iqbal will focus on foreign exchange options and will work with the broad PIMCO portfolio management team, including global foreign exchange and specialist volatility strategies. Mr. Davidson will concentrate on emerging market local rates and currencies.
“Adam and Michael are excellent additions to PIMCO’s foreign exchange and emerging market teams as the firm continues to pursue compelling investment opportunities across the globe,” says Andrew Balls, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Global Fixed Income.
Prior to joining PIMCO, Iqbal was EMEA head of G10 Options at Goldman Sachs where he traded European currency options while Mr. Davidson was a trader at HSBC where he specialised in East European rates.
Year to date, PIMCO has hired 220 new employees including more than 40 investment professionals across the firm.
