VAM has appointed David Cockerton as Group Development Director. Cockerton initially joined the VAM Group earlier this year as a Senior Adviser, working to expand its existing business across the Middle East as part of the company’s continued growth strategy. In addition to the Middle East, David will now take on Global responsibilities across all VAM Group’s business interests.
Reporting into David Macdonald, Group Sales & Marketing Director, David Cockerton will now be responsible for the Group development of VAM’s three businesses: distributing VAM Funds, the Mauritius Administration and Trust Company (‘MATCO’) and VAM Global Management Company in Luxembourg.
Cockerton previously held several senior global positions with Zurich before leaving the insurance giant after 23 years of developing relationships across the Middle East, Asia and Europe. Prior to his departure, David played a pivotal role in Zurich’s announcement of an exclusive distribution agreement with Standard Chartered Bank in the UAE and Bahrain.
VAM Marketing is the appointed Global Distributor for VAM Funds and VAM Managed Funds, whilst VAM Global Management Company offers full management company services to UCITS regulated funds. MATCO, established in 2005 and based in Mauritius, is one of the leading independent management and trust companies in the international financial services sector.
Macdonald says: “As our Group continues to grow, I am delighted to announce that David will be joining the VAM leadership team. David’s wealth of knowledge and global experience of developing strong strategic distribution partnerships will allow us to create value across the multiple businesses within the VAM Group.
