State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) has appointed Ana Concejero as Country Head of SPDR ETFs for Spain, effective immediately.

The role is a new addition to the SPDR team and is based in London, reporting to Rory Tobin, global co-head of SPDR ETFs and chairman of SSGA.

Concejero brings a wealth of investment management and index derivatives experience, having held senior positions at BlackRock and Deutsche Börse in San Francisco, Frankfurt and London. At SPDR, Concejero will be responsible for managing and developing the ETF business in Spain, developing solutions for asset owners, asset managers and intermediaries.

Rory Tobin, global co-head of SPDR ETFs, says: “The characteristics of ETFs appeal to Spanish investors looking for transparent and diversified strategies in a liquid and cost-effective wrapper. Ana has a significant track record of working with clients to understand their requirements and delivering solutions to meet their aspirations. Her experience will be invaluable in growing our footprint in Spain.  We are delighted to welcome her to SSGA.”

“The SPDR ETF product mix offers a comprehensive toolbox of investment solutions for Spanish investors transitioning from a savings mind-set to more of an investing one. With a strong heritage in sector and smart beta investing, we are well positioned to capture flow from institutional and wealth managers who want to incorporate highly targeted exposures in their portfolios,” says Concejero.
“Equally as central banks look to gradually unwind their bond market positions, clients are increasingly looking to investment managers for fixed income ETF solutions based on diversified and representative benchmarks. I look forward to working with the SPDR team to develop our Spanish franchise and building our presence in this important market.”
