Lawrence (Laurie) L Hooper, Jr, will be retiring from his role as General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer of Adams Funds in July 2018.

Adams Funds comprises the closed end funds; the Adams Diversified Equity Fund (ADX) and the Adams Natural Resources Fund (PEO).

“Laurie has served our companies incredibly well for over two decades. He has been a trusted advisor and has had a distinguished career at Adams Funds. Although his well-deserved retirement will not begin until July, I will certainly miss his good counsel and friendship,” says Mark Stoeckle, CEO of Adams Funds.

Janis F Kerns (pictured), who joined Adams Funds as Assistant General Counsel on 22 January, 2018, will assume the offices of General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer, when Hooper retires.

Kerns has over 20 years of experience in the investment management industry. Most recently, she worked for the law firm of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, where she spent seven years in its Financial Services Practice Group. Her practice focused on the investment and asset management industry. Kerns also spent three years as senior counsel in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Investment Management. She holds a JD from the American University, Washington College of Law, and a BA in Chemistry from Wake Forest University.

“We are thrilled to welcome Janis to our team,” says Mark Stoeckle. “She brings a wealth of expertise in investment management to the firm and we know she will be an excellent addition to our company.”

“I am excited to join Adams Funds,” says Kerns. “I look forward to working with the experienced and talented team at Adams, building upon its success, and contributing to the Funds’ commitment to creating value for shareholders.”
