Schiff Hardin has appointed Mauricio Beugelmans as a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Financial Markets and Products Practice Groups in San Francisco.

Beugelmans (pictured), advises financial institutions including brokerage firms, investment banks, private equity firms, hedge funds, and investment advisers on critical regulatory and compliance issues. He also represents clients in securities and commercial litigation and arbitration.

“We are pleased to welcome Mauricio to the firm,” says Antony S Burt, co-leader of Schiff Hardin’s Litigation Practice Group. “Mauricio adds significant firepower to our San Francisco office to handle a broad range of complex commercial disputes.”

Having worked both in private practice and as in-house counsel, Beugelmans has extensive experience handling federal and state litigation, securities compliance, FINRA arbitration, internal investigations, international arbitration, CFTC and NFA regulation, SEC enforcement and JAMS and AAA arbitration. He was previously with his own law firm, Beugelmans LLP, and is a former executive director at Morgan Stanley, where he served as counsel on a broad range of securities litigation and compliance matters.

“Mauricio’s background makes him a great fit for Schiff Hardin, which represents many financial services clients in high-stakes litigation and regulatory matters before enforcement agencies and in the courts,” says Paul E Dengel, Financial Markets and Products Practice Group leader.

“The combination of Schiff Hardin’s collaborative environment, talented attorneys, strong litigation practice, and national presence makes it the ideal firm to service my financial services clients,” says Beugelmans.

Beugelmans earned his JD from Golden Gate University School of Law and his BA in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
