Pryor Cashman has appointed trusts and estates attorney Susan Witkin, TEP as a partner in the firm’s New York office.

With extensive experience advising clients on estate planning, estate and trust administration, tax and property issues, and related litigation, Witkin will bolster the firm’s nationally-recognised Private Client Group.

“Susan is renowned in the trusts and estates world, having served as a key member of the practice at Blank Rome for many years. We are thrilled to welcome her to our firm, where she will work in tandem with our Tax, Investment Management and other practices to provide comprehensive guidance to high net worth clients, their families and businesses,” says Ronald Shechtman, Pryor Cashman’s managing partner.

Witkin’s expertise also extends to intergenerational transfer tax planning, business succession, private foundations and trust companies, as well as estate and tax planning for foreign individuals and trusts. She has substantial experience representing clients in connection with pre- and post-nuptial agreements and with tax planning in connection with divorce.

“Pryor Cashman has a stellar reputation as a leading firm with sophisticated lawyers. The firm is recognised as a full-service powerhouse that provides value-driven client service on all levels, and particularly in the key practice areas of Corporate, Tax, Real Estate, Matrimonial and Litigation, that are important to private clients,” Witkin says. “I am pleased and excited to join this very unique firm.”

Witkin is an adjunct professor at New York University School of Law, where she has taught courses on generation-skipping transfer tax at the graduate tax program. She has also served as an adjunct professor at St. John’s University School of Law, where she taught courses on drafting wills and trusts.

Additionally, Witkin is an active member of the New York City Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, serves as pro bono counsel to Ruff House Rescue, Inc., and acts as a community adviser for CircleUp, an organisation that connects consumer entrepreneurs and investors.
