Accountancy firm Saffery Champness has announced four new promotions to its partnership with effect from 1 April 2018: Darren Drake, Nigel Walde and Roger Weston in London, and Zena Hanks in Bristol.

Drake joined the firm in 2012 and is a member of the Film & TV Team, based in London. Darren has over 20 years’ experience of working with media clients and acts for film and television production companies, commissioning producers and rights owners, as well as financiers, VFX and post-production houses. A Chartered Certified Accountant, in addition to providing audit and accounting services, he offers clients specialist advice on intellectual property, structuring and financial modelling, and tax incentives for the creative industries.

Walde joined the firm in 2012 and is also a member of the Film & TV Team, based in London. Nigel is a Chartered Certified Accountant and acts for clients ranging from small independent film, television and theatre production companies to major US Hollywood film studios. As well as audit and accounting services for a wide range of businesses, Nigel provides clients with specialist advice on claiming creative sector tax reliefs, applying for the UK Cultural Test and qualifying as an official Co-Production.

Weston is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser and has been a member of the firm’s Business Advisory Group since joining in 2008. Roger’s clients include entrepreneurs and owner-managed businesses – from start-up ventures through to well-established groups with an international footprint. His expertise spans a number of sectors, including recruitment, creative and technology, property and professional practices.

Hanks joined the Bristol office in 2005. A Chartered Tax Adviser, she acts for private clients in all aspects of their financial affairs, whether they are owners of property, invested wealth or business wealth. Whilst the majority of her clients are UK-based, they include non-domiciled individuals, entrepreneurs with global business interests and those who are seeking to move to the UK. Zena also has considerable experience of working on tax investigations. She represents the Chartered Institute of Tax as Chair of the Bristol branch.

Matthew Burton, Managing Partner at Saffery Champness, says: “I am delighted to welcome Darren, Nigel, Roger and Zena to the Saffery Champness partnership. Each one of them has a wealth of expertise and has clearly demonstrated their ability to provide innovative and practical solutions that are of great benefit to our clients.

“It is particularly gratifying to be able to make these partner promotions from within our existing teams. We are proud of the wide range of training, career development, coaching and mentoring opportunities that are available to all of our people, to enable them to reach their full potential.”
