Citi expands private bank operations in Zurich

RELATED TOPICS

Citi Private Bank (CPB) has appointed Thomas Steffen as a Zurich-based senior private banker. Steffen reports into Thomas Schlaus who leads the Zurich team.

Steffen joins Citi from Deutsche Bank where he was previously responsible for wealth management for UHNW clients, entrepreneurs and single family offices in the German and Italian speaking parts of Switzerland.

Steffen’s appointment follows the recent appointment of Thomas Schlaus who joined Citi in March, also from Deutsche Bank where he was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for key client partners in Zurich. Steffen began his career in the financial industry more than 30 years ago, serving institutional and private clients in the US, Europe and Switzerland, working for Swiss and American banks.

As the world’s leading offshore financial centre, Switzerland manages one third of the global offshore wealth under management. Citi has long been committed to the Swiss market and has had a local presence since 1963.

“We are strengthening our commitment to the Swiss market, marking the next step in the transformation of our Zurich franchise into the leading foreign private bank in Switzerland,” says James Holder, Citi Private Bank head of Northern Europe and Family Office.
