Old Mutual Wealth adds to adviser specialist support team

Old Mutual Wealth has added to its adviser support team with the appointments of pension specialist, John Corbyn, and offshore specialist, Ash Kapasi.

Corbyn joins Old Mutual Wealth after holding previous roles at Standard Life and Winterthur, which later became part of AXA Wealth, where he was head of specialist products sales. He recently spent a short period at Phoenix Group when AXA Wealth’s pension and protection business was sold to Phoenix in 2016.
Meanwhile, Kapasi brings more than 20 years’ experience in the tax and trust industry, and specialises in helping advisers and their clients to achieve their financial planning goals. Prior to his appointment at Old Mutual Wealth, he held business development roles with Brooks Macdonald and Canada Life in the Midlands.
Through workshops, events, seminars and visits, both John and Ash will work with advisers to enhance their understanding of pensions and offshore bonds and trust structures respectively, and help them to navigate an evolving regulatory environment.
The hires follow the recent appointment of pension specialist Jamie Clarke, who also joined Old Mutual Wealth’s 21-strong UK specialist sales team recently.
Scott Goodsir, managing director of UK distribution, Old Mutual Wealth, says: “It’s a pleasure to welcome both John and Ash into Old Mutual Wealth. Their combined industry experience of over 50 years will make them both real assets to our growing team. We continue to bolster our specialist support team with industry experts to make sure advisers are given the right support to continue to provide excellent outcomes for clients in a rapidly changing regulatory landscape.”
Corbyn adds: “Having been in the pension sector for most of my career I can say with certainty that this is an incredibly exciting but challenging time for the industry.”
“I am therefore very pleased to join an already accomplished team at Old Mutual Wealth and provide my insight to them. Old Mutual Wealth has also got a great reputation and I am excited to be part of this fast-paced and innovative business.”
Kapasi says: “While the legislative landscape continually evolves, the need for quality financial planning remains constant. Ensuring clients’ affairs are organised to allow inter-generational wealth management is exceptionally relevant in today’s environment and there is high client demand for advice.”
“I am excited to join a talented team who are dedicated to assisting advisers to get the best possible outcomes for clients from the high-value opportunities in this area.”
