Ogier promotes dispute resolution specialist to partner

RELATED TOPICS

Ogier has promoted Dispute Resolution specialist Oliver Passmore (pictured) to partner.

Jersey-based Passmore’s practice includes all aspects of shareholder disputes, fraud and asset tracing, insolvency, banking and regulatory matters.

He has considerable contentious trusts expertise, having worked on some of the most complex and high value contentious trust matters on which Ogier has been instructed.

He is a recognised thought leader in the area, regularly speaking and writing on contentious trusts for journals such as Trusts and Trustees. He sits on the steering committee for STEP’s contentious trusts special interest group.

Ogier’s global head of Dispute Resolution, Simon Davies, says: “Oliver is well known for his extremely high level of technical ability, and the commerciality with which he applies it to client matters. He is an outstanding advocate in general, but especially in trust and company matters where his measured but robust approach has proved extremely effective on many occasions. He has great experience in all aspects of offshore commercial dispute resolution.”

Passmore joined Ogier in 2008 from Simpson Grierson, one of the largest commercial law firms in New Zealand. He was admitted as a Jersey Advocate in 2012, having previously qualified and practiced as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2006, and as a barrister in England between 2002 and 2005. Passmore is a member of the Jersey Law Society, and an overseas member of the Chancery Bar Association of England and Wales.
