Sarasin Asset Management Ltd, a registered investment adviser with the SEC and regulated in the UK, has linked with Pershing Advisors’ US investment and custody platform in a bid to help US expats manage their legacy Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs/Rollover IRAs) from the UK or elsewhere.
Sarasin and Pershing Advisors can now manage these US pensions (which need US custody) as part of a US/UK client’s broader total investment plan.
Similarly, UK expats or others who build up significant UK pension savings and move to the US face similar issues looking after their legacy UK investments (eg SIPPs, ISAs, offshore pensions, GBP accounts). Understandably US domestic advisors have little knowledge of UK pension products and GBP mandates. Based in London but registered with the SEC, Sarasin manages UK personal pension portfolios for many UK expats now living stateside as part of broader US/UK family investment plans.
Sarasin’s UK capabilities plus the Pershing US platform completes the investment capabilities for transatlantic clients and dual national families who need a total investment plan, including their pension savings, both sides of the Atlantic.
John Soler, Investment Director of Sarasin Asset Management, says: “The Special Relationship between the US and the UK promotes an increasing number of transatlantic families and global executive moves, and with this comes a number of specific investment and savings challenges too. Without the right access to US and UK investment platforms or an Investment Advisor with the access and the specialist knowledge of both countries’ pension products, clients are left within incomplete investment plans and neglected legacy pension investments.”
