Nerine Fiduciaries has appointed Jonathan Bailey as client services director in its Guernsey office. Bailey has hopped islands while staying with the Group, joining the Guernsey office after five years of running the firm’s British Virgin Islands’ operation.
Nerine’s deputy managing director in the BVI, Wayne Francis, has subsequently taken the step up to managing director.
Bailey qualified and practiced as a solicitor in England and became a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) before moving to the BVI where he was admitted as a solicitor in Anguilla and BVI.
He joined the Nerine BVI team in April 2013 as managing director and has considerable experience advising clients on BVI trusts, the use of VISTA legislation, private trust companies and for general succession of BVI company shares.
Francis joined the Nerine BVI team in March 2007 having spent 10 years in the BVI financial services industry as a financial controller and also a short period as a compliance officer. He was promoted to deputy managing director in 2013.
“Jonathan is a vital member of our team and has led the BVI office exceptionally well and we look forward to learning from his experiences and adapting his knowledge to the private wealth landscape in Guernsey,” says Nerine executive chairman, Keith Corbin. “We also felt it was a natural promotion for Wayne to take up and he has done so seamlessly; we are confident our office in the BVI is in strong and experienced hands.”
The BVI office is fully staffed and resourced with a team of approximately 30 full-time staff including accountants, chartered secretaries and trust and estate practitioners.
Nerine was recently acquired by PraxisIFM, joining a global business with offices in 15 different jurisdictions. The Nerine senior management team has committed to staying with the Group for a minimum of three years.
