UK wealth management group Tilney has appointed Andy Grant as Head of Financial Planning.

Grant will be responsible for leading Tilney’s UK-wide financial planning business and developing and executing its growth strategy. Tilney’s financial planning business comprises 208 client facing financial planners who operate from 30 office locations across the UK.

Grant has extensive senior management experience in financial services and insurance firms and joins Tilney from the British Business Bank where he has served as Chief Operating Officer. He was previously COO of Royal London where he focused on preparing the group for growth and execution of a new strategy. At Royal London he developed and led the group-wide transformation that repositioned the existing businesses under the Royal London brand across long-term savings, protection, wrap platform and asset management units; the launch of a digital direct to consumer business; and the integration of the insurance and asset management businesses acquired from the Co-Op. Grant also previously served as COO at insurance group Amlin where he led the carve-out integration of Fortis Corporate Insurance. He was retained by RBS to advise on post acquisition strategy for the separation and integration of ABN AMRO Global Markets.

After graduating in Monetary Economics from the London School of Economics, Grant began his career at management consultancy firm Accenture. He then spent a decade at UBS, developing and executing strategy, latterly with UBS Wealth Management where he was a Managing Director with responsibility for growth and change in the UK market.

Chris Woodhouse, Chief Executive of Tilney, says: “We are delighted to welcome Andy to Tilney. He brings extensive experience in managing teams, business integrations, change management and driving growth and joins at a really exciting time for the business as we embark on our next phase of growth and development. Tilney is in great shape having invested heavily in both new technology and building our brand while also recently reporting a record year for revenues, gross new business and profitability. Andy will lead what is already a sizeable, UK-wide team of exceptionally high calibre financial planners and he will play a pivotal role in helping us build our financial planning business further, including through new hires and potential acquisitions.”
