Kleinberg Kaplan adds private client partner

Law firm Kleinberg Kaplan has appointed Jeffrey B Kolodny as a partner in its Estate Planning and Administration Practice.

Kolodny counsels high net worth individuals, affluent families and family offices on estate planning and wealth preservation utilising advanced tax planning, structuring, and personal planning strategies. Kolodny also has broad experience assisting an array of entrepreneurial clients with the formation of limited liability companies, partnerships and corporations and counselling clients on business succession planning.
With an advanced law degree in taxation, he provides astute counsel with respect to wealth transfer and tax planning. He also advises fiduciaries with respect to their obligations and beneficiaries regarding their rights, in estates and trusts, and in accounting proceedings, will contests and other Surrogate’s Court proceedings.
For international clients, Kolodny creates plans and structures that achieve wealth transfer and other objectives while minimizing taxes when multiple legal and tax systems apply. His practice involves frequent representation of foreign individuals acquiring or owning US property, individuals and fiduciaries with assets in multiple jurisdictions, and US nationals with assets abroad.
“We are excited to welcome Jeff Kolodny to Kleinberg Kaplan. His deep knowledge of international and domestic estate planning and tax issues makes him a perfect addition to our firm. Many of our investment manager, investor and family office clients turn to us for guidance in achieving their business objectives which are deeply intertwined with their estate planning and administration needs.  Estate Planning and Administration has become a key practice for the firm and Jeff will be integral to our continued success as trusted advisor in these matters,” says Andrew Chonoles, Kleinberg Kaplan Managing Partner.
Kolodny says: “Wealth preservation and estate planning strategies have become increasingly important for the private fund managers, entrepreneurs, investors, and other high net worth individuals that epitomise Kleinberg Kaplan’s client roster. I am excited to bring my practice to Kleinberg Kaplan, where I can contribute to the firm’s established estate planning department, and my clients can benefit from the full-service platform that combines extensive big law experience with the personalised attention of a mid-size firm.”
