ETF inflows remained strong in August, says Amundi

Inflows into the global ETF market continued to be strong in August, with global inflows of more than EUR31 billion, with inflows in equity ETFs (+EUR16 billion) and bonds (+EUR13 billion) broadly the same.

That’s according to the latest ETF Market Flows Analysis from Amundi which shows that total inflows since the beginning of the year reached EUR263 billion. In Europe, net subscriptions slowed over the last month, to +EUR2.4 billion, due to reduced bond inflows.
In the European market, equity ETFs benefited from net inflows of EUR2.9 billion in August. European investors once again favoured North American equities (+EUR2.4 billion). Among Smart Beta ETFs, investor interest in ‘Minimum Volatility’ strategies continued to rise (+EUR156 million).
ETF bond flows experienced a slowdown in Europe, with net inflows of EUR194 million. European investors demonstrated a preference for floating rate note ETFs (+EUR577 million) as well as Eurozone sovereign bonds indexed to inflation.
