London-based Silk Investment selects Ultimus Fund Solutions for mutual fund services

Ultimus Fund Solutions, a provider of mutual fund services, has reorganised and converted Silk Invest Ltd’s mutual fund into the Ultimus’ sponsored Unified Series Trust.

Silk Invest, a London-based firm, chose Ultimus to provide a full suite of mutual fund services for the USD60 million-plus AUM Silk Invest New Horizons Frontier Fund (Fund).

Silk Invest, founded in 2008, is a London headquartered investment management boutique specialising in frontier market public equities across Africa, the Middle East, LATAM and Asia, investing in local companies with sustainable and scalable business models. Silk Invest’s reorganisation into Unified Series Trust was initiated when Silk took over as the Adviser for the Fund, for which it previously served as sub-adviser. The firm selected Ultimus based on its competence, reorganisation capabilities, and experience; in the past 18 months Ultimus reorganised three other clients from unrelated trusts into Ultimus-sponsored series trusts.

“We were deeply impressed with Ultimus’ knowledge and proficiency with fund reorganisations, which made our experience incredibly smooth,” said Judah Plotner, Managing Director and Head of US Business Development at Silk Invest. “Ultimus’ tax expertise and ability to customise their solutions around our specific international needs makes it very easy for global firms such as Silk Invest to conduct business in the US. This type of partnership has allowed our transition onto the Ultimus platform to be nothing short of successful with their methodical management and oversight.”

“We were delighted to help Silk Invest with this endeavour and anticipate this will be a long-term, beneficial relationship for both of us,” says Dave Carson, President of Unified Series Trust and VP, Director of Client Strategies of Ultimus. “It is exciting to have an investment manager client with roots in the UK/European marketplace and we look forward to expanding our services overseas.”
