Maitland has acquired Gowling WLG (Monaco), a Monaco-based legal advisory firm, which will be rebranded as Maitland Advisory (Monaco).

In purchasing this entity, Maitland will now be formally licensed to provide international legal advice from its new Monaco office.

Our legal services offering in Monaco will be headed by Peter Walford, who brings to Maitland a large network of high net worth clients and intermediaries based in Monaco and elsewhere. Peter is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, and has been established in Monaco for many years. He will work with Cécile Schlub and other members of the Maitland team in Monaco.

Herman Troskie, MD of Private Clients at Maitland, says: “The wealthy are rapidly becoming “global citizens” and require a truly international service, delivered seamlessly across borders. Maitland is one of the few that can offer a seamless multi-disciplinary service through a worldwide network. We are delighted to strengthen our network with this acquisition, which is an ideal bolt-on to our multi-family office offering. We look forward to continuing to bolster and enlarge our private client platform, while retaining our focus on client service excellence.”

Walford says: “I am truly excited about Maitland’s multi-family office offering, and look forward to building out our legal services offering in Monaco. Our existing clients will benefit from Maitland’s experience of more than 40 years in looking after ultra-high net worth individuals, families and entrepreneurs.”
