HSBC Global Asset Management appoints CIOs for multi-asset

HSBC Global Asset Management has appointed Jean-Charles Bertrand and Joe Little as Global Co-Chief Investment Officers of Multi-Asset.

As Co-Chief Investment Officers, Bertrand and Little will continue to work together to further develop HSBC’s Global Asset Management’s Multi-Asset investment capability, ensuring that it tailors its investment strategies to meet the varying needs of a wide range of clients across geographies, in a consistent and coherent way.
Chris Cheetham, Global CIO of HSBC Global Asset Management, says: “We have built a strong multi-asset platform with close to 60 investment professionals in 13 countries, supported by strong research and a range of proprietary decision support tools. The appointment of Joe and Jean-Charles will help us further enhance our offering and ensure that we remain at the forefront of this important area.”
HSBC Global Asset Management has been managing multi asset investments for over 25 years and now manages close to USD100 billion within its Multi Asset Investment Capability. Recent launches includes two HSBC Global Sustainable Multi-Asset Portfolios, which are globally diversified across a range of different asset classes and regions, and aim to deliver improved sustainability characteristics to the broader market. More recently, the team launched a Multi Asset Style factors strategy which aims to  deliver returns uncorrelated to traditional asset classes.

As Co-Chief Investment Officers, Little will focus mainly on the investment process, including economic and asset allocation research and investment strategy. Bertrand will focus mainly on risk budgeting, portfolio construction and fulfilment.

Both Bertrand and Little will report to Chris Cheetham. Jean-Charles will be based in Paris, and Joe in London. They will retain their current roles as Head of Multi-Asset France, and Head of Investment Strategy, respectively.
