ETFs are uniquely well designed for a niche industry and this week sees us interviewing Jay Rhame of Reaves Asset Management, a firm that is proud of its four decades of focus on the US utilities sector.
It may be a small sector, just 3 per cent of the S&P 500, but it punches well above its weight in terms of returns, particularly once in the safe hands of fund specialists Reaves. Reaves is in the process of bringing this product to Europe in a UCITS.
This week also saw us looking at the likelihood of the new non-transparent ETF structure opening in Europe, most likely in Ireland, and we also examined gold backed ETF flows, which saw a 2 per cent slide over April.
