First Republic appoints MD and wealth manager


First Republic Bank (NYSE:FRC), a private bank and wealth management company, has appointed Arif Ahmed as as Managing Director and Wealth Manager at First Republic Investment Management.

Ahmed, who has 21 years of wealth management experience, will provide investment management, retirement planning, investment consulting and other wealth management services to individuals, families, nonprofits, and private family foundations.

“Arif Ahmed is a highly successful wealth manager with a long history of helping individuals, families and foundations accomplish their goals,” says Bob Thornton, President of First Republic Private Wealth Management. “Arif is committed to First Republic’s unique brand of exceptional client service and is an outstanding addition to our growing team of wealth managers.”

Prior to First Republic, Ahmed worked for Merrill Lynch for 21 years and was Managing Director and part of the firm’s Private Wealth Management team. At Merrill, Ahmed served high net worth clients, endowments, foundations and family offices. Ahmed and his colleagues delivered a wide range of sophisticated wealth management strategies, including estate planning, managing concentrated stock positions, cash flow modelling and family governance. Ahmed is involved with various Catholic charities and SOME (So Others Might Eat), a nonprofit organisation seeking to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
