Vistra, a global trust, fund administration and corporate services provider, has appointed Jervis Smith as Country Managing Director of Vistra Luxembourg, effective 17 September 2019.

Smith will be responsible for leading Vistra’s Luxembourg office and growing the business, together with the Vistra office in The Netherlands, in order to maximise joint opportunities between the two offices, which share a mutual base of clients and culture. Based in Luxembourg, he will report to Vincent Bremmer, Regional Managing Director, Europe, Vistra.

Commenting on the appointment, Bremmer says: “Emerging as a jurisdiction of choice for corporations, institutional investors and private individuals amid Brexit uncertainty, Luxembourg has become the largest fund jurisdiction in Europe, and is one of our priority markets in Europe with a strong focus on alternative investments.

“Jervis’ extensive local and international experience puts us in a position to further capitalise on this important market. His track record and experience in leadership and client management will maximise the potential of our employees while further elevating our client relationship and service experience. I am delighted to have Jervis as one of the key senior leaders in Vistra to collaborate and create business opportunities with our international offices, offering clients a seamless experience across our global network.”

With more than 35 years of experience in the banking and finance industry, Smith has extensive international leadership experience, having held a number of senior management roles in Citi, Financial and General Bank PLC and National Westminster Bank.

Prior to joining Vistra, Smith spent over 25 years with Citi, most recently as Head of Investor Services, Luxembourg, where he managed the product and business development of investor services catered to banks, pensions, insurances and asset managers across the globe. Previously, he was Head of Sales for APAC in Hong Kong, Global Head of Client Executives for Securities Services in London, Head of Financial Institutions for Managed Funds and the Middle East, and held other senior roles with financial institutions for the firm based in London and New York.
