Cult Wines appoints new purchasing director

Cult Wines, a specialist in fine wine investment management services, has appointed Hubert Buchmuller to lead the firm’s purchasing team.

Buchmuller is an experienced figure within the fine wine industry. Between 2014–2020, he was Fine Wine Buyer for Compagnie Médocaine, part of the AXA Millésimes Group. Prior to this, he worked for other wine export companies in China and Hong Kong, including Cordier Mestrezat Grands Crus. Hubert was educated in Taipei, Shanghai, London and France.

Tom Gearing CEO and Co-Founder of Cult Wines, says: “Hubert is a very well-respected face in the Bordeaux market, and we are delighted to have him join our team. Continuing to develop our sourcing capabilities, by strengthening relationships with producers and increasing allocations is a critical part of our growth strategy. His relationships with the network of négociants and wine makers across France, and especially in Bordeaux, is second to none. As we continue to grow our global client base, his leadership to the current team’s role is crucial to our overall business model.”
