Allianz Global Investors brings successful China A-Shares fund to UK retail market with OEIC fund launch

Allianz Global Investors is to launch its successful China A-shares strategy as an OEIC later this month making it one one of the first investment managers to offer UK retail clients access to the A-shares market.Mirroring the top performing Allianz China A-Shares strategy which has been available as a Luxembourg SICAV since March 2009, the fund will offer investors the opportunity to exclusively access the growing China A-Shares market in a UK domestic fund.

The Allianz China A Shares fund, currently available as a SICAV, returned 52 per cent (net) during 2019 vs it’s benchmark +32 per cent(net), MSCI China A onshore total return. The fund is in the 1st quartile over all periods so far this year and is also ranked number one over three years within the Morningstar Category – China Equity – A Shares.
 
The fund will be managed by Anthony Wong and a dedicated China equities team based in Hong Kong, looking to invest in domestic Chinese companies and will apply a bottom up research process to build a diversified portfolio for investors to access the Chinese market.
 
The fund will be available in C and W share classes.
