The European asset management platform of Mediolanum Banking Group, Mediolanum International Funds Ltd (MIFL), has appointed David Whitehead as Equity Portfolio Manager in its Multi- Manager team. Based in Dublin, Whitehead will report to Eoin Donegan, who is heading the Equity Multi Manager portfolio management team.Whitehead will be primarily focused on portfolio management in multi manager strategies but will also work closely with the manager selection team. He will be involved across all areas of the investment process, from asset allocation, to fund selection and portfolio construction.
Whitehead has over 10 years of industry experience working across a number of different roles. Most recently, he was Senior Investment Research Analyst for a pension and investment consultant professional practice where he was part of the Investment Research function. He was also a member of the Investment Committee and was involved in Manager Selection, Asset Allocation & Portfolio Construction.
Prior to this, Whitehead was an Investment Analyst at the financial and investment advisory firm Acumen & Trust, in Dublin – having previously held roles with BNY Mellon and Citigroup.
The appointment of Whitehead follows numerous additions made by the firm in the last 12 months – and comes hot on the heels of last month’s appointment of Terry Ewing as the new Head of Equities from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA).
Christophe Jaubert, CIO at MIFL, says: “David has the broad knowledge of financial markets and investments that makes him another great appointment for us at this time. His experience across investment research, asset allocation, fund selection and portfolio construction will fit well in our Equity Multi-Manager business. We are delighted to have him onboard.”
MIFL is planning to bring onboard more equity investment professionals, as it looks to roll out its equity strategies platform. While the group will continue to maintain long term relationships with best-in-class equity managers through its multi-management approach, the firm now, following its philosophy in pursuing the value of diversification, wants to complement this by building up its internal competencies.
