Robert Jukes has today been appointed Chief Investment Officer of Rowan Dartington, replacing John Betteridge who retired in July 2020.Jukes joined Rowan Dartington in September 2019 as Deputy Chief Investment Officer expecting to take over from John when he retired. From the outset, Jukes has been working closely with John on the handover to ensure a seamless transition.

Jukes has over twenty years’ investment experience and joined Rowan Dartington from Canaccord where he was their Global Strategist and Head of Asset Management for Canada. Prior to this, Robert held the position of Global Equity Strategist at Credit Suisse. Throughout his career, Jukes has developed a top down macroeconomic and thematic approach to investment strategy, whilst also developing multi-asset risk based quantitative strategies. His strategic and academic background will be invaluable as he transitions into the role of Chief Investment Officer, leading the investment team, setting investment strategy and providing support to Rowan Dartington’s growing team of portfolio managers, investment executives and research analysts.

In his new role, Jukes will continue to work closely with Group Chief Investment Officer, Tom Beal, and his investment colleagues in the wider St James’s Place Group, providing valuable strategic input to key committees on asset allocation and investment proposition development, supporting the St. James’s Place Partnership in the delivery of successful investment outcomes for all clients of the Group.

Rowan Dartington’s Chief Executive, David Hobbs, says: “We are delighted to welcome Robert to the executive team. In these challenging market conditions, his global strategic investment experience will be hugely valuable to both Rowan Dartington and the wider St. James’s Place Group.  We very much look forward to benefiting from his specialist knowledge and innovative mindset.”

“John Betteridge, who joined the company in September 2014 as a non-executive director and Chairman of the Asset Allocation Committee, has been a vital member of the Rowan Dartington family and we are hugely grateful for the ongoing clarity and expertise that he has brought leading the Investment team. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
