Innovator ETFs announces new upside caps for September series of S&P 500 Buffer ETFs

Innovator Capital Management (Innovator) has announced the new upside caps and return profiles for the September Series of the S&P 500 Buffer ETFs – Innovator S&P 500 Buffer ETF – September (BSEP), Innovator S&P 500 Power Buffer ETF – September (PSEP) and Innovator S&P 500 Ultra Buffer ETF – September (USEP) – which completed their first outcome period and reset at the end of the month. It was an extraordinarily volatile year that saw the premier large-cap benchmark of the US stock market reach record levels before the most rapid bear market drawdown and subsequent rebound in the history of the index, snapping back to hit fresh highs within recent weeks. The September Series all reached their upside caps over the full outcome period while experiencing a fraction of the volatility (standard deviation) and drawdown of the S&P 500 Index, respectively.

The Innovator S&P 500 Buffer ETF – September has a buffer level of 9.00 per cent and a cap of 17.90 per cent, the Innovator S&P 500 Power Buffer ETF – September has a buffer level of 15.00 per cent and a cap of 11.75 per cent, and the Innovator S&P 500 Ultra Buffer ETF – September has a buffer level of 30.00 per cent and a cap of 8.12 per cent.

The Buffer ETFs are part of Innovator’s category-creating Defined Outcome ETF family – the first group of ETFs designed to provide investors with built-in buffers against losses of -9 per cent (“Buffer”), -15 per cent (“Power Buffer”) or -30 per cent (“Ultra Buffer”) and exposure to the growth of market benchmarks, to a cap, in a tax-efficient vehicle over a one year outcome period. Innovator currently has 50 total Defined Outcome Buffer ETFs in the market, as well as the recently-launched Innovator Laddered Fund of S&P 500 Power Buffer ETFs (BUFF), with total assets under management (AUM) greater than USD3.2 billion and nearly USD1.3 billion in inflows year-to-date[2]. In addition to being named “ETF Issuer of the Year – 2019” in the seventh annual ETF.com Awards*, acknowledging the rapid advisor adoption and the positive potential impact on investor behaviour of the Defined Outcome ETFs, Innovator won “Newcomer Alternative ETF of the Year” and was “Highly Commended” for “ETF Suite of the Year” at the Mutual Fund Industry and ETF Awards 2020 by Fund Intelligence in July.

The Innovator S&P 500 Buffer ETF lineup completed monthly issuance in May – with 36 total S&P 500 Buffer ETFs – providing advisors more frequent opportunities to allocate near the beginning of an outcome period and a wider range of return profiles to better manage risk. The September series is the eight successful monthly series outcome period completion and reset for Innovator’s S&P 500 Buffer ETF Suite.
