IWP appoints Chief Risk Officer

Independent Wealth Planners UK (IWP UK) has appointed Les Cantlay to its Executive team as Chief Risk Officer.Les will lead the IWP risk and compliance function, providing strategic advice to the group to help teams manage risk, improve control effectiveness, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

 
Les brings a wealth of expertise to IWP with over 40 years’ experience in financial services across corporate governance, strategy, business development, and risk and compliance. Les has had a long career in advising Financial Services Institutions and previously held roles as Head of Legal, Compliance, Company Secretary and Chief Risk Officer for a UK Bank.  Previous to this appointment Les was a Non-Executive Director at IWP bringing his expert perspective to regulation and risk matters.
 
David Inglesfield, IWP CEO, says: “I am thrilled that Les will be part of the IWP team as Chief Risk Officer. He has been an invaluable adviser in his Non-Executive role and now joins us to lead our risk and compliance function. I know his in-depth knowledge and extensive experience will be an asset to the business as we continue to expand.”

IWP provides market-leading operational and support services, including compliance, IT, investment research, marketing, recruitment and training, allowing IFAs to spend more time with their clients. IWP acquires local firms but leaves the day to day management in the hands of local teams, who may also retain a participation in the ownership of the business.
