Independent Wealth Planners (IWP), the nationwide network of independent financial advisers and wealth managers, has acquired three independent financial planning firms. The deals further expand IWP’s nationwide coverage and take the number of acquisitions to 22 since IWP’s formation just two years ago.

The trio of purchases: Aberdeenshire-based Buchanan & Associates, Moss and Roberts located in Norfolk, and Buckinghamshire-based Principle Financial Planning, boost IWP’s assets under management by around GBP400 million, taking total assets administered under the IWP umbrella to almost GBP4 billion, serviced by 80 financial advisers, with total group headcount now standing at 250 people.

Buchanan & Associates, based in Stonehaven, was established over 10 years ago with an independent and dedicated team of eight. Andrew Buchanan will remain as director of the firm, continuing to lead the firm’s team of experienced paraplanners and administrators. Buchanan & Associates forms part of IWP’s Aberdeenshire office, continuing recent expansion in the area.

Directors and financial planners Michael Moss and Lloyd Johnson head up Norwich-based Moss and Roberts. Operating out of the Norfolk hub, the firm’s 10-person team strengthens IWP’s East-Anglian presence.

Principle Financial Planning, based in High Wycombe, was formed in 2008 by current director, Colin Johns. The firm has witnessed strong growth in the past 13 years, amassing around GBP125 million in client assets.

David Inglesfield, Chief Executive at IWP, says: “I am delighted to welcome Andrew Buchanan, Mike Moss and Lloyd Johnson, and Colin Johns, and their respective teams to IWP. These acquisitions extend our existing nationwide network and mark further progress in our ambition to build Britain’s best wealth planning business.

“Our pace of growth is testament to the robustness of our model, which allows like-minded IFA owners to come together and share the benefits of group scale while maintaining a high degree of continuity for their clients and staff.  We are committed to independence and it is great to see so many independent firms choosing to continue their proud tradition of client advice and service with IWP.”

Andrew Buchanan, Principal at acquired firm Buchanan & Associates, says: “Our business is built on sound advice, helping our clients achieve their financial goals in this volatile time. We always strive to go the extra mile for our clients, which is why IWP is such a good fit. The continuation of our local presence and existing staff, combined with the central support that comes with being part of the group, will provide real benefits to our clients, while offering Buchanan & Associates a robust platform for further growth.”

Lloyd Johnson, Director and Financial Planner at Moss and Roberts, says: “We are delighted to find an ideal business to join, one that will support the next stage in our development and look after the best interests of our clients and staff.”
