Tilney Smith & Williamson makes key hire in Belfast

Wealth management and professional services group Tilney Smith & Williamson has appointed Claire McCombe as an investment manager in the firm’s Belfast team.

McCombe’s previous role was leading the Private Banking business in Northern Ireland for Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, where she spent six years. Prior to this she was an Investment Director with Bank of Scotland where she spent eleven years, initially focused on structured finance and transactions. In addition McCombe holds a law degree from the University of Edinburgh and she is a chartered accountant.

The hire follows on from the recent merger of the local Tilney and Smith & Williamson teams in Belfast in April. The combination has created a formidable wealth management business in Belfast comprising 42 colleagues providing investment management and financial planning to clients with over GBP1.2 billion of assets.

Emma Sharp, head of investment management in Belfast, says: “This is a hugely exciting time for the business as we come together following the merger last year to offer clients in Northern Ireland a truly unique proposition. We are delighted to welcome someone of Claire’s calibre to the team and she will be integral to our growth and development over the coming months.”
