Lawrence Stephens adds first Family Law Director

Family lawyer Jay Patel has joined Lawrence Stephens as Director of the firm’s newly established Family department.

A highly skilled solicitor with more than 20 years’ experience in family law, Patel has acted for a wide range of clients – both domestic and international – on matters including divorces; dissolution of civil partnerships; financial claims and remedies; pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements and child arrangement orders.

Patel is also an accredited member of the Law Society Family Law Panel and is a Resolution-approved mediator, offering mediation services in both English and Gujarati.

While he acts for high-net-worth individuals on both domestic and cross-border divorces involving substantial assets, Patel has also advised high-profile politicians, entrepreneurs, business-owners, foreign nationals, non-domiciles and sports professionals.

Currently ranked in the Legal 500, recognised in Chambers, and recommended in the Spear’s 500 list for 2020, Patel’s dedication to delivering exceptional client service with empathy, compassion and discretion has enabled him to develop a solid reputation as a trusted legal advisor across London and the wider industry.

Patel says: “I feel both excited and privileged to be appointed Director of Lawrence Stephens’ first Family department. Having specialised in family law for over 20 years, working for many domestic and international clients on a variety of matters, I aim to use my breadth of expertise and knowledge to develop a reputable and proactive practice, keeping our clients’ best interests at its core.”

Steven Bernstein, Senior Director, says: “We’re very happy to have Jay heading up our new Family team at Lawrence Stephens. His incomparable experience and reputation in the legal industry, in addition to his high level of commitment and care to his clients, will undoubtedly enable us to establish a market-leading practice and deliver quality advice on an extensive range of family matters.”
